Somewhere along the way, I think that we lost track of something important. These days, a lot of faith talk is metaphorical, not real. We’ve substituted “healing the sick” with “healing a broken heart”. We’ve translated “walking on water” into “getting out of your comfort zone”. We’ve swapped “move a mountain” for “do something really difficult”.
Jesus talked a lot about miraculous things he did (even today, people call the “wonders”) and said that after he sent us the spirit, we would do even greater things. I don’t think that he said “metaphorically speaking, you will do even greater things” or “relatively speaking you will do greater than these”.
